Francesca has just graduated with a first class BMus degree with honours at University of Manchester. She studied flute lessons with Gavin Osborn during her degree and shall continue with Ruth Morley at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in September when she shall begin her Master in Composition. Francesca has extensive experience playing in a mixture of ensembles, including playing baroque flute in University of Manchester Baroque Orchestra and in the university's Symphony Orchestra on flute and piccolo. Her piccolo playing is particularly strong, exhibited in her playing piccolo in Prokofiev symphony no.5 and in a recent recital of the piccolo and piano work, 'Piccolo Play' by Thea Musgrave.
Francesca has a particular interest in contemporary music which links in with her great interest in composition. Premiere's include 'Time is filtered light' by Gavin Osborn for Flute, Violin and Piano, 'Anarchy' by Steven Pycroft for Symphony Orchestra and a symphonic work by Ian Percy. She has also written compositions for flute, one of which is soon to be performed by The Nicholson flute trio, entitled 'The rain that swells the water'. |
