I graduated in 2010 from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a Bachelor's degree in Music Performance and a minor in French. During my time at the university, I gave three recitals, played in recital seminar at least once a semester (often more than once), and held principal spots in the Wind Ensemble and the Orchestra. In addition to C flute, I have also performed on piccolo, alto, and bass flute. I have premiered many original works, and have played many contemporary pieces, along with well-known classics and some more obscure pieces.
My talents do not extend just to the flute. At UL, I was in Chorale (the school's top vocal group) for seven of my eight semesters, and have been taking classical voice lessons since 2008. I have since gone on to compete at NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing), have been in three operas, and had a lead in the musical The Mystery of Edwin Drood. Teachers and conoisseurs of music alike have commented on natural phrasing when playing flute and attribute it to techniques I have learned in my vocal studies.
I was in the Honors program for my entire time as a UL student. I received the Presser Award as a sophomore, and Dean's Scholar as a junior. I served as a member of the School of Music Student Advisory Board from 2007-2008, and performed on a student recital for the NASM Accreditation Board in 2008. I was a member of the Louisiana Intercollegiate Honor Band in 2009 and 2010. When I graduated with a 4.0 GPA, I was also recognized as UL's Outstanding School of Music Student. I am a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, having served as secretary from 2008-2010. I am also a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Pi Kappa Lambda.
Now that I have graduated, I continue to play flute and sing in St. Leo the Great's church choir, teach flute lessons, and play wedding gigs. Weddings are such special occasions, and I offer more than just music. For three weddings so far, I have also handmade cake toppers in the likenesses of the bride and groom, which you can see on my Photobucket account:

When I am not practicing, I enjoy reading, writing fantasy novels, drawing and sculpting my characters, and composing music for my world. I also have a strong passion for languages. I speak French and Spanish, and am studying Italian and German. |
